CPIML Delhi-NCR committee held its 12th State Conference on Jan 20, 2024. The conference was inaugurated by party’s Polit Bureau member Ramji Rai. The conference began after paying homage to martyrs and flag hosting.
Comrade Ramji Rai said that this conference is being held in challenging times when the country's democracy and Constitution are under attack by fascist forces. The conference should resolve to take concrete steps towards the mobilisation of people on basic issues by focussing on ground level work and putting thrust on ideological work amongst the people. He quoted Lenin who had said that communists should be true agents of revolution and emphasised that the task of party building is the need of the hour and we must take up the challenge of fascist majoritarian politics.
Comrade Ravi Rai presented the outgoing state committee's report. This was followed by a detailed discussion on the work of the party in the past three years, its organisational activities, and future challenges. The main intervention of the party after the last conference in Dec, 2019 was the role played in the aftermath of Delhi riots in 2020, participation in anti-CAA-NRC movement, Farmers movement and ration and medical relief works done during lockdown and covid pandemic. It was felt to give priority to expanding and consolidating the party work in Delhi-NCR region with a due ideological thrust. The cultural teams presented vibrant programs in between sessions.
Delegates highlighted the need to build a strong party organisation through consistent and sustained work on people issues. It was resolved to put all out efforts to defeat the Modi government in the 2024 elections. It was decided to run a sustained Ham Bharat ke log (We, the people of India) campaign of the party exposing the anti-people anti-democratic character of Modi govt and raise people's issues. The campaign will put ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity, socialism and secularism enshrined in Indian Constitution as the goals to aspire in opposition to the forces trying to spread communal hatred, increased suffering and socio-economic injustice due to corporate backed policies of unbridled privatisation.
A 25-member State Committee was elected by the delegates which in turn re-elected Ravi Rai as State Secretary.
