The Indian Social Forum 2023, part of World Social Forum was held in Patna from December 2-4, 2023. Speaking at the Inaugural session of the forum titled Inaugural Plenary “Democracy with Dignity, Justice and Peace” on December 2, Com. Dipankar, General Secretary of CPIML Liberation said that Indian Social Forum has always played a vital role in the democratic moorings of the country and it is great to see ISF being organised again after a period of gap.
“Democracy and its essential values of dignity, justice and peace are built and nurtured by decades of struggles and people’s movement. But today, we are at a moment where these values are being destroyed and replaced by regressive social, political and economic settings,” Com. Dipankar.
Our Constitution is a living document of dreams of our freedom fighters for a country with democratic values, but today BJP is killing this document itself for its nefarious fascist project. Every day, the constitution and its values are attacked.
He added that it is crucial for us to protect the democratic and constitutional values, otherwise if these essential values are lost, India will pushed back to centuries and into an era of slavery and destruction. So, it crucial the BJP-RSS fascist project needs to be defeated in the upcoming election to ensure democracy with dignity, justice and peace for all, which were the dreams of our freedom fighters.
