Bihar State Committee of CPIML organised a state level convention of party activists at Ravindra Bhawan, Patna on December 7 to deliberate on the findings of the Bihar caste survey and the socio-economic data of Bihar households. A booklet was released by the State Committee analysing the figures and highlighting the core agenda of development to lift Bihar from the shackles of acute poverty. As found out by the survey 64% households of Bihar, roughly two out of every three, have to make do with a total monthly income of less than Rs 10,000.
Speaking at the convention Com. Dipankar, CPIML General Secretary said that “Bihar must undertake a time bound campaign to accomplish basic land and agrarian reforms, a dedicated programme to ensure homestead land and housing for all, massive expansion and improvement of education and health-care services by the government, viable growth of agro-based and allied industries in the MSME sector and rise in wages and social security to eliminate poverty and ensure economic justice for all.”
The convention also adopted a 12 point resolution including demands around caste survey, condemning Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza and expressing solidarity with the striking Anganwadi workers among others. The convention welcomed the expansion of reservation for SC/ST and EBC/OBC categories and endorsed the demand for special state status for Bihar.
The convention was also addressed by Bihar State Secretary of CPIML Com. Kunal, Rajaram Singh, Meena Tiwari, Dhirendra Jha, Sandeep Saurabh, Mehboob Alam and Shashi Yadav among others.
