In a rich tribute to the revolutionary legacy of communist leader and former MLA Ramdev Verma, his statue was unveiled in his village Patelia of Samastipur District on his first memorial day on May 22. The statue was unveiled by CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya along with CPIML Central Committee member Manju Prakash (Com. Ramdev Verma’s partner), Bihar Minister Alok Mehta, several leaders of CPIML and other Mahagthbandhan parties were also present on this occasion.
Thousands, cutting across various sections of the society joined the program and took a pledge to fulfill the dreams of Ramdev Verma. Com. Dipankar Bhattacharya said in his address that Ramdev Verma's determination to raise the red flag high even at the end of his life is a source of inspiration for us. Today, the country is in a very difficult period. If Modi comes to power again in 2024, there will never be elections in the country.
“Com. Ramdev Verma’s legacy and determination is a guiding light for us to fight this fascist regime and its anti-people policies,” added Com. Dipankar. He said that the poor of this country want democracy, not Ambani-Adani. That's why today all the forces standing in favour of democracy and the constitution will have to unite and push such forces back.
Alok Mehta said that Ramdev Verma never compromised on his ideology. “We will keep working to take inspiration from them. He said that today there is an attack on the constitution of Babasaheb Ambedkar”.
Shashi Yadav, Politburo Member of CPIML said that today in Modi's rule women wrestlers have to come on the streets against sexual harassment. First there is no FIR, then there was no arrest if even after an FIR was filed at the behest of Supreme Court. Modi government is tearing apart the law and order.
The village of Patelia reverberated with the slogans of anti-fascist resistance and pledged to carry forward the revolutionary legacy of Com. Ramdev Verma.
