The All India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM) organised an indefinite dharna in protest of non-payment of sugarcane farmers dues in Baheri of Uttar Pradesh. The Kesar Sugar Mill owes sugarcane dues of farmers, remaining unpaid in spite of repeated requests, was opposed and an indefinite sit-in protest was started from 13 February.
A protest mahapanchayat was also organised on 28 February which was presided by AIKM Vice President Prem Singh Gehlawat. The Sugar mill management eventually came to talks and agreed to pay remaining dues in instalments of 15 Crores by 6 March, 45 Crores by 15 March and 74 Crores by 30 April.
