Release CPIML Activist Pappu Khan

CPIML legislative group leader Mahboob Alam and deputy leader Satyadev Ram met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on 9 September 2022 and submitted a memorandum with regard to the continuing eviction of the poor in Darbhanga and other Districts.

In a statement issued later, Comrade Mahboob Alam said that the Mahagathbandhan government must change its work style from that of the previous government. Nitish Kumar had given the assurance that the poor will not be evicted without prior alternative arrangements, but this is not being implemented on the ground. We have informed the Chief Minister of the atrocities by the police and local land mafia on the dalit basti in Rajwada where 50 families were evicted and their homes bulldozed without alternative arrangements. Ranjit Jha spread malicious rumours of a child being crushed to death in the debris, sparking clashes. There was no arrangement for a medical team or ambulance, resulting in the death of an injured homeguard jawan, after which 18 people including 6 women were thrown into jail. Popular leader Pappu Khan was arrested on false charges without any evidence. CPIML leaders are being persecuted for speaking against the eviction of the poor, and the Sadar Block office was raided.

The ML leaders requested the CM's intervention in this matter and also raised the issue of the Mahenoor rape and murder in Katihar and demanded an end to persecuting the victim at the BJP's behest.
