A sit-in protest was organized on 16 June 2022 at Civil Lines in Allahabad against the Uttar Pradesh government's bulldozer policy. The dharna was attended by intellectuals, professors, trade union leaders, writers, lawyers, students, youth and social activists.
The speakers addressing the dharna said that the government's bulldozer policy is to destroy the Indian Constitution and judicial system and to strike terror in the minorities and the common citizen and undermine people's trust in the rule of law. The arbitrary police repression and demolishing Parveen Fatima's house without legal sanction and labelling Javed Mohd as the mastermind of the violence without proof is unconscionable. The citizens appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony.
A memorandum addressed to the President was submitted to the ACM Allahabad with the following demands: conduct a fair enquiry into the violence that occurred on 10 June; pass orders to reconstruct Parveen Fatima's and Javed Mohd's home and pay them 5 crores as compensation; take action against Prayagraj Development Authority for the illegal demolition and strict punitive action against the guilty officials; withdraw false cases slapped on Dr Ashish Mittal, Shah Alam, Zeeshan Rahmani, Umar Khalid and other innocent citizens. The dharna was led by leaders and activists including Ramji Rai, Dr Kamal Usri and others.
