Statewide Protests in Uttar Pradesh against Bulldozer Raj and Atrocities on Women
CPIML Uttar Pradesh State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav sat on a 50-hour hunger strike at the Chandauli District HQ on 14 May 2022 against the Chandauli killing case where 2 women (sisters) were brutally beaten by the police, resulting in the death of one of them.
Comrade Sudhakar said that instead of ensuring justice for Nisha Yadav of Manrajpur who was killed by the police beating, the administration is trying its best to whitewash the matter. He said the struggle will continue till the accused police personnel including Sayyedraja SHO UP Singh are arrested under Section 302 of the IPC and removed from service.
Along with the CPIML State Secretary, Bharatiya Kisan Union (A) Zonal spokesperson Manidev Chaturvedi and leaders from many other organizations also sat on hunger strike. The 50-hour hunger strike ended at 4 pm on 16 May with a resolve to intensify the struggle for justice to Nisha Yadav.
AIPWA Hunger Strike:
On 18 May 2022 All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) UP State Secretary Kusum Verma along with Chandauli district Secretary Smita Bagde, Joint Secretary Sujata Bhattacharya, Vice President Vibha Prabhakar and Vibha Vahi sat on a day’s fast in protest against Yogi administration’s attempt to save accused police persons at Chandauli district headquarters.
Statewide Protests:
Earlier, statewide protests were also organized on 10 May under the CPIML-AIPWA-AIARLA banners against the Yogi government's Bulldozer Raj and growing violence against women in Chandauli, Lalitpur, Ferozepur as well as other places in Uttar Pradesh.
In Lucknow a march was organized from Parivartan Chowk to the Collectorate which was stopped mid-way by the police-administration. A meeting was held on the road and a 10-point memorandum addressed to the Governor was submitted to the Kesarbagh Thana Head. The meeting was addressed by leaders including Ramesh Singh Sengar, Kamla Gautam, journalist Sarojini Bisht, Kumari Anjali, Kaleem Khan, Madhusudan Magan and others.
The protest in Robertsganj Tahsil, Sonbhadra was attended by State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav. Addressing the dharna Comrade Sudhakar said that women are not at all safe even in police custody. The Yogi regime is creating communal hatred and also unleashing bulldozers against minorities and dalits. The CPIML will under any circumstance carry forward the fight to protect minorities, dalits and the poor.
Protests were also organized in various Districts including Mirzapur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Devaria, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Basti, Banaras, Bhadohi, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Jalaun, Mathura and Moradabad.
