CPIML is holding a protest dharna in Patna against the inhuman eviction of slum dwellers for the last many days. The evicted families are being victimized in the name of smart city project which is nothing but to give a hold of the city to the corporates and the big business at the cost of common citizens. This eviction by the Nitish government is being condemned widely.
At the protest site on 6 March the leader of Opposition in Bihar Tejashwi Yadav joined the CPIML dharna against the eviction. The evictees were settled for decades in Daroga Rai Path-Hartali Mor and the demolition of the decades-old fish market, Dhobighat, night shelter, Anganwadi and school.
Tejashwi Yadav lent his support and said that eviction of the poor without alternative arrangements will be protested jointly inside the Assembly as well as on the streets. Also present on the occasion were RJD leader Alok Mehta, CPIML leader and AIARLA General Secretary Dhirendra Jha, MLAs Satyadev Ram, Gopal Ravidas, Virendra Gupta and former Councillor Vinod Yadav. The talks were held between the protesters and the DM and the electricity and water supply was restored immediately and the DM gave the assurance that alternative arrangements would be made.
The poor and dalits in Bihar will participate in large numbers in a protest to be organized by AIARLA in front of the Vidhan Sabha on 14 March on the issue of enacting a law for the housing land rights.
