In a display of public anger against land mafia's illegal capture and construction of a building on adivasi land in Lodhma Mauja village, Ramgarh Block (Khata No. 111, Plot No. 2095 Rakwa 97 decimal), people led by the Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha demolished the illegal under-construction building themselves on 20 March 2022. The local administration and thana failed to protect the aggrieved adivasi family in spite of repeated requests.
Bandobasti parcha for the said land is in the name of Chandranath Bediya s/o Banshi Bediya. One person Umesh Mahto from Kundru village had been trying to capture this land with the help of the land mafia. When adivasis refused to do his work on the land, Umesh Mahto threatened them with fear of the land mafia, abused and beat them, and was in the process of constructing a compound wall on the said land. An application to stop this was submitted to the Ramgarh Thana in-charge and Zonal Officer but the administration took no action against the land mafia and the illegal construction continued. Then hundreds of adivasi men and women under the Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha banner demolished the compound wall on 20 March and took possession of the land. The Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha has demanded to register a case against the land grabber under the SC/ST Act.
