The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) has raised pressing questions about the Prime Minister’s silence on two critical issues affecting Bihar: the need for special state status and central university status for Patna University.
On June 19, the Prime Minister attended a renovation program at Nalanda University. While this event was significant, CPIML state secretary Kunal questioned why the Prime Minister did not address the longstanding demand for special state status for Bihar. He pointed out that Bihar, where 34 percent of families live on a monthly income of less than Rs 6000, deserves special status to ensure better support and development.
Kunal noted a shift in Nitish Kumar's stance. "Nitish Kumar used to be aggressive on this issue, but now, when he has the opportunity, he has surrendered to Narendra Modi and avoided the question of special state status," Kunal stated.
In addition to this, the demand for central university status for Patna University remains unaddressed. The Prime Minister has consistently rejected this demand, despite its importance for the educational advancement of the region. Kunal emphasised that the continuous rejection is unacceptable and that Bihar deserves better educational infrastructure and recognition for its institutions.
The CPIML asserts that the Prime Minister's silence on these critical issues will not go unnoticed. Bihar will respond appropriately to this neglect, as these demands are vital for the state's development and the welfare of its people.
Kumar Parvez, Media In-charge of CPIML, Bihar, reiterated the need for immediate action and accountability from the highest levels of government. The CPIML remains committed to advocating for the rights and development of Bihar and will continue to press for these essential demands.
