ON 5 April 2020 at about 9 PM some feudal criminals entered and attacked the home of Krishna Musahar in Sara Musahar Toli, Tarari Block, Bhojpur District. The criminals had entered the house with intent to rape, and when the women in the house protested, they started firing. Six persons were injured in the firing. CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal has strongly condemned this incident and said that these criminals do not stop perpetrating such heinous crimes even in these times of Corona-Lockdown engendered crisis. The government should take measures to stop such criminal activities.

Comrade Kunal also spoke of another incident in Patna District which is an indication of the heightened morale of criminals. Unsocial elements supported by the BJP are consistently harassing CPIML Block Committee member Comrade Rajesh Kumar, resident of Jarkha village in Paliganj Block, Patna District. Comrade Rajesh has been consistently opposing continuous attempts by these unsocial elements to vitiate the social and communal harmony in the village. Therefore these BJP-supported criminals attacked his home on 45 April with intent to kill him. Also in Patna District, feudal elements prevented CPIML District Committee member Gopal Singh from entering Vishnupura village in Bihata Block when he was returning after enquiring into the condition and needs of migrant workers and the poor affected by the lockdown. These incidents are a matter of great shame. The lockdown and the right-wing hate campaigns are strengthening already existing tendencies of untouchability and discrimination against Dalits and Muslims, as well as towards Covid-19 victims.

The CPIML once again reiterates its demands that the rising graph of crime should be curbed; rations should be distributed to all without any discrimination; steps be taken to counter the stigma towards health workers and relief workers as well as Covid-19 patients, and opposition parties should be included and collaborated with in these initiatives.

On getting the news of the firing on Sara Musahar Toli, CPIML Tarari MLA Sudama Prasad and Block Secretary Ramesh Singh visited the village to enquire into the facts of the incident.

The list of injured persons is as follows:

1. Krishna Musahar—age 26—7 gunshots

4. Videv Musahar—age 22—2 gunshots

Apart from Videv Musahar, all the other injured persons were brought the same night to Ara Sadar Hospital. Tarari MLA Sudama Prasad, CPIML City Secretary Dilraj Pritam, and Medical in-charge Dinanath Singh went to Ara Sadar Hospital, met the injured persons, and obtained detailed information regarding the incident. Detailed information about the incident was also immediately given to the District Collector. As a result of the initiatives taken by the CPIML, cheques of Rs 1 lakh each were issued to all the injured persons as compensation.

MLA Sudama Prasad has demanded that all the criminals should be arrested, a speedy trial conducted, and due punishment given; arrangements for adequate and proper treatment of all the injured persons should be made; in view of the difficulty in rations due to the Lockdown, arrangements should be made for proper nourishment and food for all the victim families; rations should be arranged for all the Musahar Tolis.
