AISA South-Zone Workshop

The All India Students’ Association (AISA) held a two-day workshop in Bengaluru on November 11th and 12th, 2023, where several leading student activists of AISA from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka participated. 

Over the two days, basics of Marxism, history of student movement in India, AISA and its organisation, anti-fascist resistance, and identity politics of caste and gender were covered. Comrade Clifton D’Rozario in his introductory remarks said that students have played an important role in all the anti-fascist resistance in India, including the farmers’ movement, pro-citizenship movement, trade union movement, women’s movement, among others and hence it is pertinent to build a strong students’ movement in the coming days to gear up to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Comrade Shankar introduced Marxism with focus on historical materialism and dialectical materialism. AISA National President Nilasis Bose spoke on the history of left students’ movement in India, whereas AISA General Secretary Prasenjeet Kumar spoke on the history of AISA and the important struggles taken up. CPIML CC member Sucheta De took the session on identity politics of caste and politics.

A south-zone meeting was conducted on the occasion where campaigns and initiatives to be taken up at the state-level for the 2024 general elections was discussed.
