Remembering the Victims of Kambalapalli

Fight for the Annihilation of Caste Goes On

11th March 2023 marks the 23rd anniversary of the gruesome murder of 7 Dalits in the village of Kambalapalli, Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. On that fateful day, Ramakka (60 years), Papamma (46 years), Subbamma (45 years), Kunti Papanna (40 years), Anjanappa (27 years), Sriramappa (25 years) and Narasimhappa (25 years) were beaten and then burnt to death. 32 persons from the Reddy community responsible for this brutal murder were arrested. However the Trial Court acquitted them, and the High Court upheld this acquittal order.

On the said day, In various districts across Karnataka, protest meetings and candle light vigils were held by CPIML, AIPWA, AIARLA, AICCTU, AISA and RYA remembering all victims of the caste system and taking a vow to be guided by Bhagat Singh who saw revolutionary Marxism as the answer to communalism and caste and to fight to realise Babasaheb Ambedkar’s exhortation of annihilation of caste.
