ON 30th June, on the occasion of 165th anniversary of Hool rebellion a commemoration event was organized by AISA/RYA with the cooperation of Korangani Tea Garden workers in Korangani Santhal Bhavan. Veteran activists Bikram Majhi and Jiten Majhi inaugurated the event which was presided over by Jiten Majhi. Comrade Balindra Saikia, central committee member of CPIML spoke on Hool rebellion and its significance in today’s context. CPIML Dibrugarh district secretary Bitupon Bokolial, emphasised on the tea garden workers to unite and fight against BJP's atrocities on them. Meera Tanti from ASCSS, Anita Hasa from AISA, members of Progressive Assam Society and Students of University of Delhi, Noihrit Gogoi and Urnisha Swargari, and Saumarjyoti Bora from Kolkata university also addressed on this occasion. Kunti Tanti from RYA proposed a resolution demandng Rs. 351 as tea worker's daily wage, to provide land deed (patta) to the tea workers, to guarantee jobs to the home-returned workers and resolution against the govt decision of fixing 12 hours work day.
