CPIML organized a memorial meeting on 29 November in Arwal on the 21st anniversary of the Bathe massacre victims, attended by a large number of villagers and Party leaders and activists. The meeting began with 2 minutes’ silence and floral tribute to the martyrs.

CPIML Arwal District Secretary Mahanand said at the Bathe massacre victims’ memorial that as soon as the BJP came to power the perpetrators of the Bathe carnage were acquitted. This government failed to give justice to the poor. 58 people, including one child, were massacred by the Ranveer Sena under the watch of this government which boasts about being a ‘government for social justice’. Those killed were the poor, the oppressed, and dalits. Ranveer Sena members of yesterday stand in the ranks of RSS-BJP leaders today. The BJP has hijacked all institutions including even the judiciary. He said that the need of the hour is to unite, raise our voice, and fight for the Constitutional rights of the poor and the oppressed. This government has started evicting the poor in the name of the Jal Jeeven Hariyali Yojana (water and forest conservation) but on the other hand the sand mafia and corporate houses are being allowed to freely cut forests. The people must organize and unite to defeat this anti-farmer and anti-poor government.

The meeting was also addressed by Surendra Prasad, Jitendra Yadav, Umesh Paswan, Chandraprabha Devi, Shah Faraz, Pramod Kumar and others.
