BHOJPUR and all of Bihar was shocked to hear the news of the murder of CPIML comrade and indomitable fighter for the people Comrade Suresh Paswan in the morning of 15 October in Tarari. Comrade Suresh Paswan, popularly known as Jhari Paswan, hailed from Bihta of Terari region and was a very popular leader.

Comrade Suresh (Jhari Paswan), 60, was sipping his morning tea at a tea-shop when six unidentified killers emerged suddenly on two motor bikes and started firing. This spot is just by the side of the Terari thana but instead of running to nab the killers the thana incharge started firing on the people who had immediately gathered at the site to protest this killing. Such a police thana incharge deserves an immediate suspension and an inquiry. CPIML Bhojpur secretary Jawaharlal Singh and MLA Tarari Sudama Prasad immediately rushed to the spot.

CPIML has called for a blockade in the Bhojpur district on 17 October in protest of this incident.

Comrade Kunal has said that the criminals are ruling the roost in Bihar as if there is no administration and law and order machinery. Recently another CPIML leader - Mukhiya Arun Singh - was murdered. With the illegal mining of sand from the Sone river and illegal liquor outlets both increased to an unprecedented scale in the district the mafias and criminals are effectively controlling the administration leading to the threats for the lives of honest people and activists who take up people’s issues with honesty and courage.

The party demands the suspension of the thana incharge of Terari, to immediately nab the killers, and a minimum Rs. 10 lakh ex gratia and compensatory government job for the family of the deceased leader.

Comrade Suresh Paswan’s last journey on 16 October was attended by CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal and Politburo member Amar along with thousands of people amidst revolutionary slogans. The huge procession proceeded from Charu Nagar, Bihta to the banks of Sone river where members and supporters led by Bhojpur district committee members paid the martyred leader their heartfelt tributes and pledged to intensify people’s struggle against all odds and threats.
