Dedicated first generation leader of the Naxalbari movement in Bhagalpur District and CPIML Kharik Block Committee member Comrade Lakhanlal Mandal (65 years) passed away at his home in Lokmanpur (Kharik) at about 7 pm on 15 August 2019. He was active in the Party from the latter half of the 70s till his demise. Born in a poor farmer’s family Comrade Lakhanlal played a leading role in the anti-feudal struggles and land rights struggles in the Kadva region. He was always dedicated and true to the Party and the interests of the poor and the oppressed. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters. A wave of grief engulfed the entire Party cadres when news of his demise reached them.

Comrade Lakhanlal Mandal’s last rites at Radhopur Ganga Ghat were attended by Party leaders including State Committee member SK Sharma, District Secretary Bindeshwari Mandal, City in-charge and AICCTU State Secretary Mukesh Mukt. They expressed deep grief and paid tributes to Comrade Lakhanlal. Expressing condolences to the bereaved family members, the Party leaders said that Comrade Lakhanlal’s leaving us suddenly like this during this critical hour of fascist attacks on the country is an irreparable loss to the Party and to people’s struggles. They called upon the people to pledge to strengthen their struggles and fulfill Comrade Lakhanlal’s dreams. The entire Party stands with the bereaved family in their hour of grief.

A tearful adieu was bid to Comrade Lakhanlal with two minutes’ silence, lowering of the Party flag, and singing of ‘Internationale’. Hundreds of party activists, leaders, and supporters were present on the occasion.
