On 5 June 2018 a rally was organized from the Gandhi Maidan to the Zonal Office in Godda. A 5 point memorandum was submitted to the Zonal Officer with the demands that: in accordance with the SC order, landless urban and rural poor should be given proper rehabilitation before eviction under the anti-encroachment drive; no anti-encroachment action should be carried out during the rains; the several mistakes committed during past anti-encroachment drives should be corrected; all the landless in Godda Block should be given 3 decimal land as per government order; urban and rural persons who have not been given ration cards and pension scheme should be given these benefits without delay. Speakers in the rally demanded that harassment and eviction of the poor in the name of anti-encroachment drive should be stopped, otherwise the CPI(ML) would escalate the protests and take the administration to task. As per the Supreme Court order, the poor should first be rehabilitated before their lands are acquired.
