The autocratic BJP government has changed the name of the centuries-old historically important Mughalsarai Railway Station to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction. The leaders who came for the name change function including BJP President Amit Shah, CM Yogi Adityanath, Rail Minister Piyush Goyal, Keshav Prasad Maurya along with dozen other leaders, faced angry protests by the people. Activists from several organizations showed black flags and held protests and road blocks. Hundreds of CPI(ML) and All India Kisan Mahasabha activists marched towards the venue of the BJP programme raising slogans on the following issues: stop inflicting Sanghi ideology on the people by changing the name of Mughalsarai; insult to history and legacy of Mughalsarai will not be tolerated; arrest the killers of CPI(ML) leader Com. Dinesh Maurya; implement the agreement with the farmers whose lands are being taken under the rail freight corridor project; stop grabbing farmers’ land at throwaway prices for projects including construction of gas pipe line, Ring Road, and CRPF camp. The march reached the final barricade where they held a protest meeting and submitted a memorandum.
